Rental Library

How the Rental Library Works

Not every game needs to be a lifelong commitment.

Maybe you want to try something before buying it. Maybe you're looking for something different for game night. Maybe you've got a few hours to kill and an alarming amount of confidence in your ability to learn rules.

Whatever the reason, we've got a whole library of games you can play.

And you've got two options:

Play Here

Grab a game from the Rental Library, find a table, and have at it.

Table space is $5 per person, and that's good for the whole day. Play one game. Play five games. Show up when we open and make us eventually ask whether you live here.

It's still $5 per person.

And if you've earned a table-fee coupon from shopping at RRG, you can use that too.

The Short Version

$5 per person. Play all day. Play as many Rental Library games as you want.

Easy.

Take It Home

Prefer your own table? Most games in the Rental Library can come home with you.

Each game has a nightly rental price based on its regular price. You'll see the exact rental price listed with the game.

For example, if Splendor is $4 per night, you can take it home today and return it before we close tomorrow for $4. Keep it another night? That's another $4.

What If RRG Is Closed?

Free day!

If your game would normally be due on a day we're closed, that day doesn't count against you. So if you rent a game on December 24 and we're closed December 25, your one-night rental isn't due until December 26.

We're not charging you rent for a day when you couldn't return the thing. We're not monsters.

What Do I Need to Rent a Game?

Just bring a valid ID.

There's no deposit and no credit-card hold. You can pay however you'd normally pay at RRG.

Like It? Buy It.

This is where renting gets especially nice.

If you rent a game to take home and decide you want your own copy, buy the same game and edition within 30 days and we'll apply everything you paid in rental fees toward the price of a new copy.

Rented it for $4/night? After the first night, you've already got $4 toward the new one.  Rented it for 3 nights? That's $12!

And rental charges will never exceed the price of a new copy of the game.

Table fees don't count toward the purchase credit. The credit comes from take-home rental fees and applies to the same game and edition you rented.

Turns out commitment isn't so scary when you get a trial period.

About That Game You're Taking Home...

Rental Library games have been played before. That's sort of their whole deal.

Normal wear happens. We're not going to inspect the box with a magnifying glass because somebody bent the corner of a player aid.

But if a game is lost, seriously damaged, or comes back missing important pieces, you'll be responsible for the cost of replacing it with a new copy.

And here's the important part: you get the new copy.

So if you rent Splendor and your dog decides half the cards are delicious, you'll owe the price of a new copy of Splendor... but that new copy is yours.

Congratulations on your purchase. Please discuss appropriate gaming-table etiquette with your dog.

That's Pretty Much It

Want to stay? $5 per person gets you a spot at a table and access to the Rental Library.

Want to take one home? Pay the game's nightly rental price and bring it back before closing the next day.

Fall in love with it? Buy the same game and edition within 30 days and your take-home rental fees go toward the purchase.

Pick a game and give it a shot.

Some games are forever. Some are just for the weekend.
